Kara completed her B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Bioengineering and her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh in 2012 and 2017, respectively. Her research interests include modeling and simulation, software development, and system design. Kara has recently been accepted to a faculty position in the Electrical and Computing Engineering Department at the University of Pittsburgh
